Well, it's that time of year again! Tomorrow morning I will be traveling from Austin to Fort Worth for my third year of Sugar & Spice! I've been told that people are very excited that the "cute little baking girl" (a funny name I've been called) is coming back to take orders for Thanksgiving!! And this year she's not pregnant!! Next year, if my customers will let me get away with it, I plan on staying in Austin to do my business. I have a friend here that is a real estate agent and may be able to help me get customers here through title companies, brokers, etc. Those places need gifts for their customers so that may be something that happens this year too. The great thing about that is the fact that they would not need a delivery date right before Thanksgiving or right before Christmas like my other customers do. So I am praying that my business doubles this year! WOO! Get ready Babe (my husband), time for the assembly line of cheese balls!
Today I am working on my decoration for my sample cart, my fliers, order forms and I have a lot of baking to do AND I gotta pack my kids for a trip to Grammy and Papas!! Tomorrow really is a fun filled day! I love going into these hair salons and serving these women and listening to their "mmmmms" as they taste the samples. I really love it when they say, "I need one rum cake, two cheese balls and three pumpkin breads." That's a money making order right there!! And my Mom's salon friends always make me feel like a million bucks. They praise me, compliment me on everything and tell me how amazing I am to have three kids and run a baking business. It's a day where I truly get filled up because someone thinks I am "The Bomb"! They don't know how bad my house looks with laundry piled up. They don't know what went into getting me there. They just see the finished product! HA! But, I am a huge people person and I love to talk and I can't really talk that much because of my voice. So it will be interesting because as soon as I am done, my Mom is doing my hair at HER salon :) and then I have to get on the road and be back in Austin by 7pm for a rehearsal! But then on Friday, I have the day ALL TO MYSELF with some baking money to spend! :) Actually, I will probably go to Sams and buy a car load of flour and sugar and eggs!
I will be back in a few days. Right now, I've gotta get my baking butt in gear! :)
Happy Thanksgiving y'all.
