Psalm 3
A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.
1 O LORD, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
"God will not deliver him."
Selah [a]
3 But you are a shield around me, O LORD;
you bestow glory on me and lift [b] up my head.
4 To the LORD I cry aloud,
and he answers me from his holy hill.
Selah
5 I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.
6 I will not fear the tens of thousands
drawn up against me on every side.
7 Arise, O LORD!
Deliver me, O my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
break the teeth of the wicked.
8 From the LORD comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.
Selah
People in church often talk about anointing and someone being an anointed speaker or singer. Or you could be like my Dad and think that Tony Romo is an anointed quarterback! :) I think he is too. But there are aspects to the Holy Spirit that I feel are so miraculous that one can't help but to be moved by it. One of the ways I describe that movement of the Holy Spirit is something like this. You know when you are in church and there is a song being sung and you can't help but to cry, get goosebumps or want to shout for joy? Well, I truly believe that is a result of something being anointed. There are just those certain moments when you know the Holy Spirit is trying to press in and help you see something. It may be a conversation with a friend or a moment during your prayer time. God can use anything to speak to us and I love that He uses the Holy Spirit to actually move us.
I've had an experience before when I was worshipping at church and in the middle of the song, the only thing I could do was cry. It's truly one of those God stops, when He comes in and ministers to you in a way that no one else can. Everything stops and He consumes your being. It's powerful, it's amazing, it's real. Romans 8:26-27 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.
Well today I've had one of those days when words were not enough for praying. It's one of those things where you just can't find the words to pray. I've been losing sleep, I've been sick, I've truly felt oppressed. It's been happening for a solid two weeks and it's been so bad that my body has physically ached. So today I woke up with a song on my heart that I knew could get me to that place of worship where I could truly let go. I thought of this song because I sang it with a Choir a little over a year ago and I thought of the words and how much they ministered to me then. I love songs that have lyrics I can truly grab a hold of and claim for myself. This song is one of those songs. I sang this song during a time when I knew I needed the Holy Spirit to intercede for me. The song is done by The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and if you want to know what anointed really means, you listen to this song. Next December, my friend Tiffany and I are going to New York City for a girls trip and we are planning to go to Jim Cymbala's church so we can hear him speak and hear his choir! Listen to this and you will know why!
The lifter of my head! I love that!!!
I cried unto the Lord with my voice
And he heard me out of His holy hill
I laid me down and slept and awaked
For the Lord sustained, for he sustained me

How beautiful. I love really large choirs like that. They are so powerful. That trip to NY will be a rememberable one. Sounds fun.
Love you lots & prayers!!
This song has ministered to me so many times as well. Thank you for sharing and thank you for your faithfulness.
Wow I had goose bumps listening to that! When I was in Bible collage I was in a traveling choir(oh how I miss it), and our director used to show us clips of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir to inspire us. :)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. You are in my prayers.
I love the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir! I haven't heard their stuff in years....thanks for the video!
