Ephesians 3:20 God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!
God is working in my life right now in so many ways. One of the biggest areas He is changing is my marriage. We were given an awesome opportunity, more like a gift, to go through a really intense marriage study with our pastor, his wife and two other couples. It's a very small, intimate setting and the homework that comes along with it, is life changing. Since Jeremy and I have been married, we have never been on a marriage retreat or had an kind of couples counseling. This experience is proving itself to be amazing. I feel like God is showing me daily how I can be a better wife to Jeremy, how I can love him more and how I can receive his love. Receiving love is something very hard for me to do. But, I am learning.
On the parenting front, I feel so incredibly blessed. These kids are my life. Just tonight we were reading Josiah's Bible and when we were done, I began asking Him some questions about Easter. I have been trying to explain to him the meaning of Easter over the last few days. I'm finding it's difficult explaining this to a five year old. I said, "Josiah, do you remember what Easter means to us and why we celebrate?" Without missing a beat he says, "Well, I know you got fancy clothes for me and baby Zeke to wear and Sissy gets to wear a Cinderella dress." Jeremy looked at me totally puzzled and then I figured out why Josiah said this. On Tuesday we went shopping with three of my girlfriends and their kids and we all bought Easter attire. We spent the day trying to find outfits to match brothers and sisters and Daddies and sons. I spent the day trying to coordinate all five of us. So it seems that Josiah picked up on that! The "fancy clothes" terminology was pretty funny. It's not like he's wearing a suit and tie! When Ava Beth tried on her Easter Dress, she called it a Cinderella dress. Actually, she refers to all dresses as Cinderella dresses. After I figured out why Josiah said what he did, I followed up with "Yes, we do wear special clothes to church on Easter because it is a very special day. But do you remember why it is so special?" And then he said something I will remember for the rest of my life. " Yes, I remember. Jesus died but he did not stay died. He rose from the dead and He is alive forever in our hearts! And Mommy, Jesus is God's son. God sends the rain to water the grass and the flowers." Then sweet little Ava Beth says, "And God mak-ed the moon and the Stah-was (aka-stars)" Before I could sit and soak in the sweet, memorable moment with my husband, Ava Beth says, "Why Adam and Eve NAKED Mommy? They naked!" Yes, we have a Bible for the kids with pictures and it shows Adam and Eve naked with leaves in the appropriate places. I explained but I don't think her three year old attention span was very interested.
It's times like tonight I want to freeze time. This life I have is an incredible gift. This family God has given me is more than I ever imagined. I can't get enough of them. I love them so much! As I was doing my run tonight, one of my favorite songs came on. Listening to it made me realize how precious these days are and how thankful I am that God chose me to be the Mom of these babies and the Wife to this incredible man. There is no other man in this world that makes me feel the way he does. I am so in love with that man and our babies. They are my delight. My husband, my kids, they are my life.
Making memories of us, that's what it is ALL about.
