I did something dumb...

I ran in the heat!

The Garmin is incredible. I knew my pace the entire time, I knew my exact mileage and my time. Every time you hit a mile, it chimes loudly. Loud to enough to hear over my iPod. I LOVE IT!

Today's run was awful. My long run is set for Saturday. Six miles. So this afternoon I really wanted to do three at the most. I left around 6pm, hoping it would be a little cooler. My friend Thomas ran out from the church to throw me a bottle of water, but I had some. Instead, he threw me a piece of gum. I have to have gum when I run and I was out so thank God for Tommy!

Something happen at mile two. I looked down at my hands and they were swollen badly! It was weird! All of the sudden, my head began to pound and I felt like I was going to throw up everywhere. I poured half a bottle of water on my head. Nothing helped. I decided to push through and almost passed out. For some reason, probably a dumb reason, I hate walking. HATE IT! But I had no other choice. From where I got sick, I was almost two miles away from home so I did get some walking in. :) I made it to the church and planned to call Jeremy to come pick me up (the church is not even a half a mile from our house if that explains how bad I felt). When I walked through the doors of the church, there was a meeting going on in the front lobby. I felt like a moron so instead of using the phone, I went into the bathroom and collapsed on the floor.

A bad run tonight. A VERY bad run. It took me almost two hours to totally cool down. Jeremy was actually worried about me so now he won't let me run tomorrow unless I get up at 5am. NO WAY CAN I DO THAT!

I'm beat so I'm going to bed early.

Please be careful - do try to run when it is cooler, early, early, early. Hope you are ok today.

Whoa! Be careful! I know your running is important to your sanity, but make sure you know YOU are important to your family. I hope you can find a time to run when the heat won't be such a factor.

Yuck! Running in the heat is miserable!!! I can only imagine how sick you felt. I know 5:00 a.m. is not an option for you but it was the *only* way I could run during the summer months. I have a treadmill but they make me stir-crazy so I would get up before the sun and even then the heat was difficult.

Once you start running, walking just won't cut it. I am still in the new baby mode so I haven't been able to run yet and the whole walking thing is driving me coo-coo!

Oh my! That sounds really scary. Glad you were ok.

On a side note, I sure wish we would get some of your warm weather here! :)
