Prep time

This weekend, I'm leading Worship. For the past several days I have been praying about the song choices. Several times over the weekend, I typed out a song list and was ready to email it to the band but it never felt right. So I called on my two close friends, Paul and Tiffany (both were my worship leaders) and asked them to pray for me. This afternoon, God has used their prayers and their words to lead me to the worship "set" I know God has given me. I have to share some things they said because God really used them to communicate some stuff to me as I sat waiting on Him to show me the songs.

Paul said, "Walk in the Spirit, Amanda. Be the Fruit of Him throughout the entire prep time. If Satan wasn't lurking, then God would not be up to anything. Be ready and lead those people to His very feet."

Last night I got an email from my friend Robbie, our drummer, letting me know he could not play next week. For a second, I panicked. I asked another guy who just auditioned and made the team but he will be out of town. I did not want an acoustic set. Yesterday's worship was incredible and I didn't want to lose the momentum that started. So I called my friend Thomas for some help. Thomas knows everyone in Austin it seems and by 11:30pm last night, I had a drummer! Before I went to bed, I prayed someone could help us out and God sent someone! I gotta admit, I was a little worried because I knew without drums, the song choices were limited.

Around lunch time today I went up to the church to meet the drummer and I think he's gonna be a huge blessing to us this weekend. What Paul had to share with me really made me think. I really felt like this drummer situation was the enemy trying to mess things up but that means God is wanting to do something! God is really in this message series Ben is teaching and worship is going to go hand in hand with it. This week, I gotta stand strong. The prep time is where God is really going to do some work. Come Sunday, I pray not only will God use me to lead the people to His feet but that we as a band will be lead there too! Thank you Paul for reminding me of the truth!

I had big plans for this weekend. There were a couple of songs I was determined to give the band so we could play them for the first time. But every single time I thought about giving them a new one, I kept feeling like God was wanting me to go back to the "oldies". We are doing one new song that we introduced yesterday but I was ready to do another new one. It would have been okay but again, I kept feeling like I needed to stick with some other song choices. Then my friend Tiffany emails me this.

"One thing I regret not doing MORE of in the past was TRULY OBEYING what songs the Holy Spirit was leading me to put in the set. Don't get me wrong...I'm ALL for the current, modern stuff...but there were times when I KNEW we were supposed to sing something like, "Jesus Loves Me", and I didn't do it because I let the enemy bully my mind: "THAT SONG?!?!? That's like, 30 YEARS OLD!!! What is the BAND gonna say?!?" And those Sundays were always flops when I disobeyed."

Once I got that email I knew right away two songs God was leading me to do. The set has been emailed out to the band so the prep time begins! I welcome your prayers this week! Please! :)

(If you want to know what the set is, email me. I want my church friends to be surprised and if they read this email, no surprise!)
