Stat Counter

If you are not using a site meter for your blog, I urge you to start using one now! It's really cool to see how people get to your blog, what city they live in or what they googled to find you (googling HEB BIRTHDAY CAKES or STOMACH VIRUS gets you to mine apparently). My stat counter has become very interesting to me. The most interesting thing is people want to know what I am writing. Why? I have no clue! Why do they keep coming back? Who the heck knows! I don't think I am that interesting and if I look at my lack of comments I feel pretty lonely. :) But, my stat counter shows me there are quite a few people interested in the daily "going ons" of my life.

You want to know how to double your hits?? Anytime I talk about a trial in my life or any type of pain, the daily hits double! Seriously. Or if I post a recipe. So if you want your blog to increase in traffic, talk about hard times or post a recipe. For some reason people or drawn to pain and food.

Remember how I told you a while back that one of my regular ip addresses (aka-computer fingerprint) who visits says they are from the U.S. House of Representatives? Well, I know who it is! She emailed me! And I adore her! :) Yes, her ip address actually says U.S. House of Representatives and it says Washington DC. So cool!

People, if you don't have this on your blog, get it! It's so fun to see who is reading! It actually shows the city, state and country of every single person who reads. And if someone is reading from their work computer, the ip address shows the company name. I don't know anyone in my Mom's city but her so I know when Mom reads! :) And I think I know when Kelly Ann reads. :)

Isn't technology amazing?! I think so!

I think that I might be invisible on stat counter. My husband has scripts blocked on the computer. I am curious if it shows up as me visiting your blog. If that is true (that I don't show up), then you probably get even more hits then you know about! :)

Btw, in case you didn't know, I am one of those people who enjoys reading about your daily life. :)

Stat Counter is fun but also frustrates me because I see so many hits each day and get very few comments. When I see the same person come back day after day and never leave a comment I want to know who they are! It is good because it makes me keep writing just knowing they are there.

I know Becca! :) You are right! :) I love to see the people that comment. That's how you and I met! :)

OK, I'm coming out of "lurkdom" and finally posting a comment! I often feel weird leaving a comment when I don't yet have a blog of my own to share. I've been reading your blog for a while - I think you were still pregnant or had just recently had Zeke when I first found your blog....not sure how I came across it (it was "Something Beautiful" at the time), but it caught my eye because my oldest is also a Josiah (he's 7 1/2). I can't tell you how many times the Lord has used something you've written to challenge or encourage me. So thanks for being transparent, and willing to allow God to use you touch the lives of countless "strangers" across the country!

God Bless!
Sarah Kate in WA state (I think I show up as "Vancouver, WA" on your site meter) :)

Wife to Chris, mama to Josiah (7), Emma Kate (5), and Abby Grace (4)

Delurking to say I love reading about your life! My hubby and I are in ministry in California and I've followed you since we were both pregnant (you with Zeke, me w/Maddie). Thanks for being so open and inspiring and hope-filled. May God richly bless your life through your musings here.

I've commented before but just you letting you know I first got hooked on your blog because I so connected with ministry things you have gone through....and from there I just keep coming back, I love your heart for the Lord.

Also, I always love your playlist too and often just pull up your site to listen to it at work, since I don't have itunes on my computer there...
