More

Last Thursday on Jeremy's ride home from work, he got a phone call from his boss. "I'm proud of you. You have done a fantastic job of getting that place up and running." As soon as Jeremy walked in the door he told me about the call. His face was beaming.

We had a lot of people who thought we were crazy to move from Dallas to Austin. Some of our family members seriously doubted the church plant idea and really hated to see Jeremy leave UPS after working for them for over thirteen years. We left anyway and because of all the doubters back home, I feared us falling on our faces and crawling back to Dallas.

The first six weeks we lived here I truly believed we heard wrong and made the worst mistake ever. Six months later I still believed we made a mistake but felt peace that we were supposed to stay. Now, a little over a year later, I know we heard right and made the best decision ever and there aint' no way I'm crawling back to Dallas! HA!

Things have not gone as planned. The church plant we moved here for, we left after seven months. Even though it did not work out, we are grateful. The Lord opened doors for us through our involvement with the church plant and that is how we found our church home. God used the church plant to get us here, No doubt! We would not have moved for a job.

Jeremy's job he got when we moved here was a total God thing. He basically made one call to someone when we were thinking about moving and they hired him. So the job allowed us to move quickly. We would not have moved without him having a job first. His dream was to leave UPS for good. He did not want a transfer. He wanted to resign for good!! His back had been injured over and over from the job and our family time was next to nothing due to the hours. Christmas time at UPS was horrible on our family. That was the huge reason I began my baking business. I was lonely and bored. Even when it wasn't peak season, he never got home before 7pm and usually not until 8pm.

His new job in Austin was something he really enjoyed. He was now in the sheet rock/drywall business in the most happening city in Texas. Growth all over the city! New high rise apartments, hospitals, custom homes, you name it! This was the place to be if you were in the construction business. For some reason I always had this gut feeling God moved us to Austin for Jeremy's dreams to come true. He took a HUGE step of faith when he left the salary at UPS. People told him he was CRAZY. But he did it anyway and took a thirty thousand dollar pay cut. It was ALL on faith!

While he loved his new job and his boss (they became very close friends), he was not sure about the possibility of growth there. So we began to pray for opportunity. I secretly prayed God would blow his socks off with an opportunity he never imagined. I prayed BIG! Jeremy will admit this himself so he won't mind me saying, he does not usually pray BIG. Since Jeremy had only been in the sheet rock business one year, he wondered how he could advance or work for a competitor. I kept telling him, "Babe, you are the hardest worker anyone has ever seen and everyone likes you, respects you and talks great about you when you are not there. Your reputation is impeccable. Your loyalty is unheard of. When they see you worked for UPS for thirteen years, they know you are a hard worker. Someone is going to snatch you up and teach you everything they know and you will be the boss!" And yes, that is what I said! I remember all of it!

A few months ago, his cell phone rang and the opportunity of a lifetime came. He is no longer with the same company. My prayer was answered. Someone was watching all of those days he came in early, left late and treated everyone with respect. Someone was watching when he went out of his way to do the job honestly and correctly. Someone was watching, took notice and decided they needed him to be on their team. Because of that, he's the boss now. :)

I am so proud of him. He's proud of himself and now his boss is proud. Jeremy's Dad left him when he was five years old. Jeremy has longed to hear the words "I'm proud of you son" his whole life. Thursday he heard it from his boss.

There are so many reasons God brought us here. Church, homeschooling, worship leading, jobs, FRIENDS, the list goes on and on and on. Not one day goes by that I don't think about it.

So if God is trying to get you to walk through a new door, do it! You will be amazed at what's on the other side. It will be more than you ever hoped for or imagined! You see, that is what God is all about! He is all about doing the impossible, the unthinkable, the things people say are stupid or crazy, He does! He loves to bless us! He longs to bless us. And the pay cut you may have to take? Well, let me say that it WILL be replaced with MORE than you ever dreamed! More money, more time with family, more peace, more joy, more! Praise God! Praise God for MORE!

Ephesians 3:20 God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. (The Message)
