School is almost in!

Blogging will be sporadic for a few days. I am getting ready for our school year, which includes working on our front room to use for school. I'm all about using the kitchen table for school but we do not have any wall space, just windows. Knowing what a visual learner my son is, I've decided to utilize empty, wasted space in our formal living and make it a fun place to learn. Plenty of wall space in there!

While our school will be "Homeschool", I want to incorporate some traditional but very important things in our time of learning. After visiting the Alamo this past weekend, I got very excited about teaching Josiah the history of National monuments and him learning some Texas History too. So I have decided to paint two canvases for the front room. One will be the American Flag and the other, the Texas flag. I think it's so important for Josiah to grow up saying the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas flag pledge. I did so why shouldn't he?!

I have to tell you I am bursting with excitement over the school year! My creative juices are flowing and I'm so excited about the first day of school. I'm a rookie so of course this year will be lots of learning for me too. But I have decided to take friends advice and not plan an hour by hour day. I have a toddler and a preschooler along side me while I teach a Kindergartner so being "flexible" is the name of the game!

Very thankful and very excited that God has placed this on my heart to do. What an incredible mission field God has given me! It is an honor.

Yea! The Social studies teacher in me loves hearing about you teaching him to be a good citizen. Knowing about our country and its great history is such an important part of knowing how blessed we are. My boys are obsessed with Davy Crockett and since he fought at the Alamo that has bled over into a love of all Texas history.

I am busy getting ready for the school year here. It is so fun picking out and ordering all the things that I will be teaching.

I love your excitment! Looking forward to reading all about your school year. You are such a good and creative mom, I just know that you are going to do an awesome job teaching your kiddos!
