a new season

The windows are open, the kids are playing on the back porch and I am enjoying a hot cup of coffee as the cool air fills my house. Just hearing the sound of a cool breeze gives me hope for new beginnings. Something about this time of year always excites me about change to come. With the newness of fresh air, comes a new outlook, a new mindset, a new me . It's the most incredible feeling and I love how I experience it every single year.

It's trips to the pumpkin patch. It's the smell of hot pumpkin bread. A good movie curled up on the couch under a blanket with those we love. It's the need for a jacket! I think for those of us in the South, where Summer lasts a very long time, we all become new creatures. The smiles are easier to find and our hospitality begins to shine. We invite people over for a big bowl of chili or bowl of stew as we watch football. We make plans for Friday night football games and local fairs. Something about the cool air changes life for us all and we begin to shower love on family, friends, even strangers.

So make a pot of coffee, invite a friend over and enjoy the new season.

Romans 12:9 Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10 Love each other with genuine affection,[a] and take delight in honoring each other. 11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.12 Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. 13 When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.

This is my favorite time of year. Thank you Lord for new seasons. Thank you.
