Last year I made a Valentine's Breakfast for the kids and they absolutely loved it. This year I decided to do it when Jeremy would be home to enjoy too! And my kids are supposed to go to Jeremy's Mom's house (hoping that still happens) next weekend because I will be a basket case preparing for the marathon so I decided to do it this morning. The kids knew we were having the breakfast because they shopped for presents yesterday. Boys picked out stuff for the girls and we picked out stuff for the boys! It was so much fun splitting up in Wal Mart and hiding things in the cart. This morning when I began to put every one's stuff out by their plates, I found my gift. A Valentines coffee mug! Jeremy gets me one almost every single year! I love it!
Ava Beth loves strawberries with her whole heart and my homemade whipped cream so I got out my waffle maker and made waffles for all of us and also made some eggs and sausage for Jeremy! The kids of course had strawberry milk while we enjoyed coffee. Jeremy said a really sweet prayer before we started eating about how special it was for Mommy to do this for them. That warmed my heart. To have the praise of my children and my husband is all I could ever dream of or hope for.
I've mentioned a lot of pain from my past as a child. But it wasn't ALL bad. There were some great moments that inspire me today. My Mom always made sure we had a Valentine's gift waiting before we went to school that day. Always! She would have it sitting out on the counter. It did not matter what Holiday, she got us something. Valentines Day she always did it up big and that memory is very special to me! I will never forget the cake she made for my kindergarten class in the shape of a heart. I felt so special on that day. I pray my kids will feel special today.
These are the moments that last a lifetime. This tradition with Valentine's Breakfast will go on forever. I love to imagine my three children sitting around together as adults talking about the heart shaped plates, with the heart shaped straws in pink milk and heart shaped waffles (last year the waffles were hearts but I forgot to get out my heart cookie cutter)!
One thing I know about me is that I like it when someone does it up big. So you better believe I'm gonna do it up big for my kids! They are worth it!
Happy Valentine's Day!

I LOVED this!!! You guys are making memories that will last a lifetime. I loved visualizing you guys splitting up in Walmart! :) I loved hearing about Jeremy praying over you guys at breakfast! You are an awesome wife and mom...so thoughtful and intentinal.
This post made me think of God. As much as you desire to "do it up big" for your sweet kids, He desires to "do it up big" for His sweet kids...THAT'S US!! :)
I love you tons!
You are so creative...and such a wonderful mom! I love this idea! And I love how you make every moment so special for your little ones.
I think I might just use your idea of a fun big breakfast for Valentine's day!
Lots of love!

too cute...
What a cool idea! I am going to do this this week! We will be in a hotel for Valentines, but maybe I could do it there...that would take some planning!
