Proverbs 4:23 Guard your heart above all else,for it determines the course of your life.
Before diving into what the WORD says about the heart, I wanted to take a look at the heart in regards to our physical health. As I researched, I found how much the physical condition of the heart relates to the spiritual condition. The heart can often reveal a serious health issue and when not treated, can lead to death. Often SUDDEN death.
The heart is the most important organ in our bodies because the heart pumps the blood. The blood carries all the materials we need which help our bodies function. Then it removes waste that we do not need. If the heart ceases to pump blood, the body shuts down and after a very short amount of time you can guess what happens. You will die.
As our hearts pump and moves blood around in our bodies, every single cell is nourished. We also know that the Human Heart has 4 chambers. The upper chambers are called the left and right atria and the lower chambers are called the left and right ventricles. We also have valves, the conduction system (the heart's natural pacemaker) and the circulatory system. Right now I want to focus on the FOUR CHAMBERS because I truly believe the four chambers have significance for us in our spiritual life.
Friends, I pray with all of my heart that you can hang on this week. Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to you. Look at it as "Open Heart Surgery". This week I want you to quit worrying about mean people on facebook, hateful family members, the church who has hurt you, the friends who have rejected you, the mother and father that weren't there for you. I want you to forget about the anger towards an unsaved husband or the worry you encounter over losing your job. Whatever it is that sits around inside of you and stirs, GIVE IT UP!
You cannot, you will not experience change without HIS WORD. This doesn't mean you pull out your Bible once a week. This means you hunger for it, you turn to it for nourishment and LIFE. This is why we MUST examine out hearts because the heart affects EVERYTHING WE DO! If you have filled your heart with lies, tv shows, hobbies, facebook and other junk, your will no longer hunger for the TRUTH. The enemy is looking for any possible way to inject your heart with betrayal against God. Your sensitivity the the Holy Spirit will be seared, cauterized! The heart will be like stone! Your abhorrence of sin will be GONE! Your desire to read HIS WORD will be diminished and your heart will no longer beat.

This was great. I found it a little frustrating finding verses at first, but what a great idea. This is something that I will continue to do. I truly needed this today.
