My 2 1/2 year old is a shoplifter!

"Wynona! I mean Ava Beth! Please quit putting all those shirts inside the stroller. Those are not ours! We have to pay for them."

Yesterday the kids and I headed to the Gap outlet at a nearby Outlet Center. I went into the dressing room at least four times with all three kids and a gigantic stroller. I tried to reason with them, bargain with them and BRIBE them but they insisted on acting like total monkeys! Needless to say, trying on clothes was a very stressful experience. Josiah was in the mirror playing the air guitar. Ava Beth was in the mirror commenting on how pretty she thought she was and I was trying to find some tops to wear to church! Oh and little Ezekiel just sat in the stroller content and happy, like always.

After about a dozen threats I made to the children to behave, after I realized that they really didn't care and that my parenting was not up to par, I decided to leave. It's not their fault I decided to shop, it's mine! So we walk out to the truck and I get ALL THREE children loaded in their seats. They are buckled and two out of three could definitely fall asleep at any moment. Once their in, I began to put the stroller up when I notice a pile of GAP SHIRTS in the bottom of the stroller. GAP SHIRTS I DID NOT PURCHASE!!!!!!!!!!

Quickly I survey the area for flashing lights and I listen for sirens. Obviously, we made a clean break! At this point, tears begin to come and suddenly I see an angel. Next to me was a women that had just pulled up in a nice SUV. She was older, probably a grandmother and she was alone. So with tears in my eyes, I explain to her the situation and she takes the clothes back in for me. I can only imagine what she told employees at the Gap when she handed them the clothes but I don't really care. I'm sure the words "CRAZY MOM" was used at least a couple of times!

Okay, so my daughter is not really a shoplifter. But, she's two years old and has hands that get into everything!! It seems she was just trying to help Mama out by getting me some new shirts!

Oh, goodness...:)

I've had those kind of shopping trips and I always regret going out in the first place! But your daughter was so kind to help you out!

from MOM

YOU were a shoplifter! You loved to put tons of packages of kool-aid and panty hose in the basket -- your panty hose of choice was NoNonsense. I used to have to keep my shopping basket in the middle of the isle to keep you from grabbing stuff and pitching in while I wasn't looking. (I hate it when I'm shopping and someone has their basket in the middle of the isle and you can't get around them. The only time I understand is when their is a two year old in her basket).

The acorn never falls far from the tree.

luv u

Ah yes! We had a shoplifting experience with Devyn too. She took a liking to Victoria Secret's lip glosses. I didn't realize she had it until we were halfway around the mall. =)

Your mom's comment made me laugh....yes...there is a saying...what we did to our parents we get back 10 fold!!! lol :-)

Shopping with children is soooo hard...kudos to you for venturing out.

I remember when Tyler was 2 he took a coffee mug from a store with HIS name on it!!!! I returned it but I can laugh about it now.
