Candy bar gives life to local Austin girl!

I don't know how most of you are when it comes to feeling loved but someone being "thoughtful" really does it for me. It definitely hits my target! One of my love languages is "gifts". I am not talking about something that costs a lot of money, although that ain't so bad! I'm referring to gifts to let you know someone was listening to you, thinking of you, paying attention to the details and "thought" of you.

Last night I was standing on the stage getting ready to start rehearsal with the band and our bass player, Robert, hands me something and says, "It's from Karla. She thought of you when she saw this." It was a ZERO candy bar! Robert and Karla have become very close friends of ours and happen to be in our small group. They are in their forties, we are in our early thirties and even though they are not old enough to be our parents, we kind of look to them on that level spiritually and relationally. We have shared some incredible times with them and words don't do justice when it comes to how much we care about them. During one of our times together, Karla heard me reference my favorite candy bar and apparently tucked it away in her memory bank. She listened to something "little" I said and did something "big" by buying me a candy bar she knew I would love and sent it with Robert.

Just a candy bar, a $1.00, and she made me squeal with delight! I felt incredibly special. To imagine Karla in a convenient store picking out that candy bar for me made me feel LOVED. She gave me life. Yep, life! To think how we can give life to others and how easy it is blows me away. If we stop and take time to listen to those around us, we will learn of so many ways we can show someone they are loved.

Lord, please remind me to listen to the little details my friends share. Help me to give life to someone today.

And my fellow bloggers and friends, if you would like a list of all my favorite stuff, I will happily share! Wink, wink!

Love that!

BTW, Fortunate Son by CCR just started playing on your playlist and it is on my ipod. It's a great running son. I'll be listening to it tomorrow during my 20K. :)

It is the little things in life that add up to big things! Love you!

Here is a virtual Starbucks for you from Dallas! Hahahaha! Wish we could just go and grab a cup of java together!

Yes, this is so true! It is life-giving to feel like you matter and that the people in your life care about you in the little things!
