Okay this will be quick but I wanted to post something!
My Mom is coming in town this morning. She is only staying until tomorrow but we will have a blast and the kids are going to be totally shocked when she pulls up. I can't wait! She is also cooking Jeremy's favorite chicken-fried pork chops and he will love that.
Every week I try to accomplish a running schedule I have made. I would love to be able to run four days a week but it's almost impossible with Jeremy's schedule, my schedule and the kids. For now I have set a three night goal for running. Monday I ran four, Wednesday I ran four and then Saturday was set for at least a 10K but maybe seven miles if I was up for it. Well, it did not happen Saturday but it did happen last night. Actually, I went at 6pm and it was still way too hot. I could not go any later because we were wanting to watch the new series on Discovery- When We Left Earth (great show by the way).
So I did it! I got my long run in! 6.2 miles! I must admit, the run was very hard in the heat. But today I feel incredible! I am so proud of myself! I did it! I finally got my long run in. Now I need to follow my training plan and keep my long run around seven miles for several weeks. If I don't, I risk injury. My personality does not help because I have a tendency to push myself and always over do it. Thankfully the heat is keeping me from pushing myself. While running last night, I tried a "gel". It was a strawberry banana flavor. I don't know if I will be able to handle those. It's warm, gooey and horrible!!! UGH!
All of my running shorts have a little pocket in them (I only wear the shorts that have built in underwear) and all of those have pockets. This way I can take my phone. I stick my mace right inside my sports bra as well as the gel pack, strap on my iPod and Garmin and I'm good to go. I've been carrying a water bottle with me and I'm HATING IT! So, it looks like I need to drop water off on my route before I begin or get a fuel belt.
My toenail came off last night. It actually looks pretty good underneath. But it's sore! Now my other foot has the same, exact toe with a bad toe nail.
Last night was very difficult but I'm glad I did it. Muscles, feet, legs and knees feel good today. That's a good sign! :)

I think the fuel belt is worth the money. I have the one w/2 bottles and it works well for me.
Great job on the 10K!
I bought a cheap Garmin (the older version w/out the heart rate info) and I'm loving it! It is so nice to know how far I have gone and how fast (or slow, as the case often is). :)
Have fun w/your mom!
Because I'm not a runner I just want to know what makes your toenails go bad and fall off? By the way you are very inspiring, you make me want to start running!
Hey girl!
RIGHT ON!!! I am still only able to go about 1 1/2 miles, without stopping on the "pansy" treadmill!!! :)
You're my HERO - so PROUD of you!!!
Love you...call me when you can.
Tiff ;)
xoxoxo
I had my first 6 mile attempt on Sunday. I ran about 70% of it. I'll get there, but it was still amazing to even push myself that much.
So, rock on!
PS I hope my toenail NEVER falls off.
OK, I really want to run, but the toenail thing is enough to keep me on the sofa. Yikes! Actually I am amazed at all the people I know who run and who are so invigorated by it. Maybe someday??
Ladies, the toenail thing is cool! It's the runner's rite of passage! :) I'm proud of it!
I just saw this thing on a runner's website that says, "TOENAILS ARE FOR SISSIES!" Since I am losing another one, I gotta say it feels good to not be a sissy! :)
I would just like to reiterate...Praise God for sissy runners who hope their toenails never fall off. If mine do, I'm signing up for Yoga.
