When I was a teenager I had this friend whose Mom put out Fall candy all over the house every year. I may have only been sixteen years old but I made a mental note then that I would do this for my family. And I do! Every year! And would you just look at those Candy Corn Hershey Kisses! It's not just the wrapper. It truly taste like candy corn and looks like it underneath.
The kids were so excited about the acorns finally dropping from the trees and the acrons being brown and not green that they gathered a bucket full of them! I made this little wreath. It's too heavy to hang so I stuck it under this.
The kids went out into the backyard this morning around 9am and they have been out there ever since. Reading books outside, gathering acorns, writing in their nature notebooks and climbing the trees was enough SCHOOL for us today. I nested. I baked and cleaned ALL DAY long!
My sweet friend Courtney gave me this recipe years ago and it is delish! She calls them Pumpkin bars but to me it's more like pumpkin cake. Oh and the icing is homemade too! Cream cheese icing! OH MY it will make you slap your mama! Maybe even slap yourself!
And the roast with carrots and potatos is done too! It's been in the crock pot all day! Waiting on Jeremy to get home from running and then we will dig in!
