Thankful Tree 2011

Isaiah 43:16-21

The Message (MSG)
 16-21This is what God says,
   the God who builds a road right through the ocean,
   who carves a path through pounding waves,
The God who summons horses and chariots and armies—
   they lie down and then can't get up;
   they're snuffed out like so many candles:
"Forget about what's happened;
   don't keep going over old history.
Be alert, be present. I'm about to do something brand-new.
   It's bursting out! Don't you see it?
There it is! I'm making a road through the desert,
   rivers in the badlands.
Wild animals will say 'Thank you!'
   —the coyotes and the buzzards—
Because I provided water in the desert,
   rivers through the sun-baked earth,
Drinking water for the people I chose,
   the people I made especially for myself,
   a people custom-made to praise me.

(Wendy, you inspired the Thankful Tree years ago. Thank you for sharing!)

I love our tradition of The Thankful Tree. The kids look forward to it every year! It is a beautiful and reflective way to usher in the season of Fall. Everyone appreciates a new season! I always think of the passage in Isaiah when we do the Thankful Tree. Fall tends to remind me of  how much Christ longs to do something "new" in my life. I am so thankful for that!

Today I am so thankful for the amazing women who took the time to help me find my way as a Homeschooler. You answered my questions over the phone and countless emails. You prayed for me! You supported me! You encouraged me! Thank you for taking the time to pour into my life. Everything I do in my Homeschool has YOUR prints. Thank you!

Kim and Wendy, you helped me find my way!! I love you both very much! Our friendship goes way beyond blogging. Wendy, we ran the Chicago marathon together! Kim, our husbands rode to Dairy Queen together so we could eat burgers! These friendships are treasures in my life and I thank God for you both. I will never understand why we can't be neighbors, but I know you are both a phone call away.

Thankful!

Amanda

I will never forget looking around and realizing that our shy guys were off to the DQ ... TOGETHER! Ha!

Love you girl!
