JOY IN THE JOURNEY

Last night while running with Heidi, we talked and ran at the same time. Actually we had an awesome run last night and we were impressed that we were able to talk at the same time. It's amazing how strong we have become and how the runs are getting easier and we are even increasing our distance. Anyway, Heidi is one of those friends that really challenges me spiritually because I see how much she is growing and how in tune she is to the Holy Spirit. Sometimes I wonder what I am doing for her in our friendship because my cup is so full when I am with her. As we talked about some things God was showing us, I told her that I was feeling such a closeness to God right now. "I feel such a sweetness in my relationship with Him right now. I feel joy and freedom and I am so hungry for His Word."

This morning I woke up and could not get a particular song out of my head. Some would find it shocking but I love Michael Card. Michael Card and Rich Mullins have lyrics that really connect the dots for me. I find a lot of nourishment in their songs. There's a song by Michael Card called JOY IN THE JOURNEY. I can't believe it, but I found it on Project Playlist. I first heard this song when I was eighteen years old at a Wedding and instantly fell in love with the words. It became a song that really meant something to me during that time in my life and I am finding it means a lot today too.

My mind has been going full speed and I have made some choices this week about my attitude and some things I need to change on the inside. I could not do it without HIM. If it weren't for Christ, my life would be hopeless. Thank you Lord for the joy you give me each and every day. I love you. Thank you for JOY IN THE JOURNEY.

There is a joy in the journey
There's a light we can love on the way
There is a wonder and wildness to life
And freedom for those who obey

And all those who seek it shall find it
A pardon for all who believe
Hope for the hopeless and sight for the blind

To all who've been born in the Spirit
And who share incarnation with Him
Who belong to eternity stranded in time
And weary of struggling with sin

Forget not the hope that's before you
And never stop counting the cost
Remember the hopelessness when you were lost

There is a joy in the journey
There's a light we can love on the way
There is a wonder and wildness to life
And freedom for those who obey

And freedom for those who obey...

Oh I love this song!! I am glad you put it on your playlist. I am surprised when I find out anyone other then me likes Michael Card. :) If you really read the words to his music, they are so beautiful.

It's so wonderful the joy He does give us on our journey...even in the hard times.

I have joy in my soul right now (and not because everything is great) it's only because of His grace. I so relate to the words of this song. Thanks for sharing!
