The Great Pumpkin Cookies

I am a huge fan of Charlie Brown and now my kids are too. When I was a kid, I actually had Charlie Brown sheets. By nature, I am not a positive person so I think that is why Charlie Brown is a kindred spirit. I understand him and if my mailbox is not FULL of Christmas cards come the week after Thanksgiving, I tend to turn a little "Brownish." And if you are familiar with his character, you understand just what I mean!

My kids have now watched The Great Pumpkin at least twenty times in the last two weeks and Josiah thinks The Great Pumpkin is going to bring him gifts! I've had to explain that The Great Pumpkin is not like Santa Clause and there will be no gifts waiting outside our door next to the fake pumpkins and scarecrow. So today he wanted to make The Great Pumpkin cookies! Hey, I will take any excuse I can to bake and pull out my great grandmother's (Mom they called her.) rolling pin to roll out sugar cookie dough. Oh and the sound of my Kitchen Aide mixer mixing butter cream icing is pure bliss in my book! Josiah even rolled out the dough a few times and had lots of fun using the pumpkin cookie cutter. He did not think I noticed but several times I saw him sneaking a bite of dough. This is what memories are made of! This is when I feel so fulfilled. This is when Jeremy will walk in and go STRAIGHT to the cookies. He loves sugar cookies with icing and he loves me more when I make them! :)

And if I could, I would have Charlie Brown over for a cookie or two and tell him how much I love him. He would be so happy to know that there is someone that likes him. He would LOVE my Christmas cards!

This is the kind of post that makes me feel so warm and gooey inside. I love the holidays, and Fall is a holiday for me. It is my most favorite time of year. I love it that no matter how busy you are with THREE kids, you still have time to bake and let them help. that is what memories are made of, and you have no idea how much just that lil bit helps them out in school. (the teacher in me is coming out). you make me want to go clean my house, and make dinner, and maybe even dessert. I would feel so domesticated! HA! LOVE YOU!!!!
