Drama with Cinderella

Ava Beth just came up stairs with a pitiful look on her face, arms crossed, stomping her feet and tells me something I will remember for the rest of her life!!!

"I don't want to be a pincess anymore!"

(me) "What baby? what did you just say?"

"I don't want to be a pincess anymore!"

I'm a little confused because I just saw her in her Cinderella "get up". She had the dress, the crown, even the wand and she was wearing one slipper because she had lost the other one at the ball (she seriously said this). Josiah was pretending to be the duke and he was looking for the "lost" glass slipper. So I walked upstairs to send out a few emails, read a few blogs and drink a cup of coffee while the kids watch Yo Gabba Gabba and played "Cinderella". Okay so back to the story.

"Ava Beth, why do you not want to be a princess anymore?"

"Cause I can't find my flipper (aka-slipper). I can't be a pincess wiffout my flipper."

And before I could say a word, she stomped away! It looks like Cinderella woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning! Would you believe she waited by the door all afternoon waiting for the UPS man to deliver the box from the Disney Store yesterday?! Last week, the slippers arrived and she's been wearing them non-stop. Now we have the dress, the crown, the wand, everything! I thought I would not be able to get her out of it but apparently this princess is a little peeved at the thought of her slipper being gone. Hey, I would be mad too!

Well, I am off to play like I am the wicked step-sister. I think I will pretend I stole the slipper but, later realized I need to be a nice sister instead of a mean one. Now we all know that is not how the real Cinderella story goes but this is where parenting becomes creative and you find a lesson to teach in the midst of fairytale!

Thank you Walt Disney. You have made my days at home with kids way more exciting than I ever imagined.
